About Rebirthing

“Man’s main task in life is to give birth to himself, to become what he potentially is.”  Erich Fromm

Rebirthing is a very simple and gentle breathwork therapy.  Its antecedents are in the great breathwork traditions of the East and in the ‘human potential’ movement of the 1960’s which included such innovators as Maslow, Grof, Janov, Carl Rogers and Leonard Orr.  Since then it has been shaped into a very effective form of experiential psychotherapy.

Rebirthing Psychotherapy takes a holistic and integrative approach to mental and emotional well-being.  While it incorporates some of the frameworks and practices of person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive therapies, it has a  clear focus on the experience of breathwork.  It is, therefore, a mind-body experience that works on the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual levels.

Rebirthing is a suitable therapy for anyone who would generally seek psychotherapeutic help, personal development or spiritual awareness.  Some of the issues that can be addressed in rebirthing include:

Depression
Relationship difficulties
Working through a crisis
Getting to know ourselves better
Life changes and periods of transition
Stress management
Past trauma
Career changes
Personal growth
